The period of time for which the contractor will provide the Work under the contract. Sometimes defined as a base period plus one or more option periods. Not to be confused with terms and conditions (Ts&Cs).

Subject matter expert; acronym pronounced either by spelling out (S-M-E) or as “Smee” (like Captain Hook’s sidekick).
